I have complained about Vancouver pubs being too polished for my taste, but there are a few pubs scattered about the city that work as good drinking establishments.
Looking for a pint on Sunday evening, Dan and I decided to stop by Corduroy Restaurant, but it was comedy night, the place was packed, and I did not want to walk in part way through a comedian’s routine. I mean, that’s just asking for it.
So, we walked over to the King’s Head, our old standby. Housed in an older house, the interior is welcoming with lots of old wood tables, chairs, and booths. We usually just drink beer when we’re there, but the pub has a full menu – all your typical pub foods plus some fun stuff like an ostrich burger. They also have a $4 breakfast in the mornings. Food is fine – nothing I would write home about, but nothing I would complain about either. It’s what you’d expect at a neighbourhood pub. And a great place to drink.
