If you’re looking for a quick and hearty lunch, stop by Sciué (“shoe-eh”). The Italian cafe and eatery says the name “Sciué” is Italian slang that translates to mean “good and fast.” Indeed.
Picture rows of beautiful pizzas, cut to order and charged by weight, as they do in Rome. Then, look at the fridge display of paninis, over a dozen kinds, all named after different regions of Italy.
My favourite Sciué lunch is a grilled Sicilia panini (Italian sausage, provolone cheese, and roasted red peppers) with a minestrone soup. It’s incredibly satisfying.
And, don’t forget that shot of Italian espresso before you leave.

I’ll confess that I’ve never really given Sciué a chance – and it’s because their interior design and food layout is sooo slick. I think, “oh, here we go with a $4 espresso and $12 panini” and avoid the place. Maybe i’ll give them a shot this week with a Sicilia panini and Italian espresso.
