While Gastown is full of great restaurants now, a few years ago this wasn’t the case. Boneta opened in the summer of 2007 and quickly became a must-try restaurant. During my visits to Boneta over the past few years, my most memorable impressions include:
- There’s always a great scallop dish on the menu
- Boneta attracts a really well-dressed crowd – have you noticed that? One Friday night it was a non-stop of beautifully dressed people in enviable outfits
- The food is reliably good. I’ve never, ever had a bad dish at Boneta. I met a couple girlfriends there recently – at my insistence – and one of them was obviously grumpy about having to come all they way into Gastown (from the West side of Vancouver no less!) for dinner, and the fact I showed up 15 minutes late didn’t help (oops). But, after a couple starters of perfectly grilled squid w/ tender Umbrian lentils and the classic Boneta poutine…all grumpiness dissipated. Whew! Thanks Boneta.
I recently reviewed Boneta and interviewed owner Neil Ingram for an article on Granville Online. Read it here.
