I have a new place to add to my “good food & not too expensive” list. I checked out Nuba Lebanese Cuisine on Friday night and had a lovely dinner.

Now, I’ve eaten my share of take out Lebanese, but I like sitting down to a meal and having a drink. Plus, I’m not huge on our takeout Lebanese places here – how Vancouver has takeout falafel and shawarma with no garlic sauce is beyond me. My time in Montreal & Ottawa spoiled me.

So, back to Nuba…fantastic and it provides a nice restaurant setting to sit down and enjoy a meal. Here’s why:

- Big menu, with lots of share places in addition to mains. The hubby and I opted for plenty of little plates.
- The BEST dish of the night was Najib’s Special: crispy cauliflower tossed with organic lemon and sea salt, served with tahini sauce. SO GOOD. I could have eaten ten bowls of it.
- Additional highlights: Thick, pressed yogurt with zatar spices and olive oil drizzled on top, a flavourful grilled lamb patty, and of course the crunchy falfal.
- We sat at the bar and were given great service from the staff and bartender.
- With 2 beers, 2 americanos, and 6 share plates, the total with tip came to $49. For a Friday night dinner, pretty damn good.

Nuba has two locations –  a bigger restaurant at W. Hastings & Cambie, plus a smaller, more casual spot at Seymour & Davie. Both are open for lunch and dinner. This is a welcome and much needed addition to the Vancouver food scene.
